Frequently asked questions
If you have a question about our ear wax removal service or microsuction services, you may find the answer here on our FAQ page.
Where are you based?
Our clinic is in Durrington, Wiltshire. We can visit you in the surrounding area if you can’t get to us. Just contact us to arrange an appointment.
Is it accessible?
There is one set of stairs to access the ear wax removal clinic. If this is not accessible for you, we will be happy to visit you at home.
Do you do home visits?
If you are unable to come to our clinic, we can arrange a home visit or visit a residential or nursing home. Get in touch to arrange this with us.
What are your qualifications?
Martina is a fully qualified nurse (since 2006) who has worked as a senior nurse and manager for an NHS Outpatients department. Martina has also completed a separate qualification in microsuction and manual ear wax removal.
How do I book a consultation or appointment?
Please email or call us. Find our contact details here.
Do you treat children?
Yes! As long as anyone under the age of 16 is accompanied by a consenting adult, we can treat children as well.
Can I remove the earwax myself?
We highly recommend that you do not do this. By trying to remove ear wax, you may push it further into the ear canal, causing trauma and even a possible perforation of the ear drum.
What method do you use for earwax removal?
The method we use depends on the client, how much ear wax needs to be removed and the consistency. We use microsuction or dry ear wax removal following an examination using a small camera.
Can you still perform earwax removal after surgery?
It depends. Some operations and procedures prevent us from conducting earwax removal. Please get in touch and we will do our best to help you.
Will this help my tinnitus?
It depends on the type of tinnitus so it’s best to check here www.tinnitus.org.uk.
How do I make payment?
We can take payment via cash, card or bank transfer. Whatever is easiest for you!
What should I do before my appointment?
Please use olive oil, which is dropped into your ear canals, to soften ear wax before visiting us. This should be done for three to five days prior to your appointment, but stop using the oil the day before you are due to be seen. Olive oil helps to soften and lubricate the wax, which better enables us to remove the wax.
If you suspect you have a perforation to your eardrum DO NOT use olive oil and check the NHS website for further advice or call your GP.
